Michael Adler, a 16-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, FL, received over forty stitches from a shark bite he sustained at Melbourne Beach whilst surfing with his buddies.

According to New York Daily News, while paramedics were carrying him to an ambulance, Adler managed to throw up a peace sign, with a grin from ear-to-ear to accompany it.

Adler informed reporters that the bite – despite severing several tendons and going down to his ankle bone – didn’t hurt that much.

That quite a large pain tolerance.

(iWIDK By Omar Guzman) – Limbs were lost in an industrial accident.

A man working in a Kansas City tire recycling center fell in to a tire shredder and lost his legs.

 An unidentified Kansas City, MO lost both of his legs after he fell in to a tire shredder.

CBS reports that the man was assisting with maintenance on the machine when he fell in it.

James Garrett, a spokesman for the fire department, stated that the man was rushed to the hospital after being dragged out of the shredder by his co-workers.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is currently conducting an investigation of the accident.

(iWIDK By Lauren Keough) - A horrific incident occurred at a snack factory. 

A man was folded at a 90 degree angle after getting sucked into a snack machine on January 24th in China.

According to Daily Mail, some people worked on disassembling the back of the metal machine while others held it to ensure it did not fall apart too quickly and further injure the man.

An IV drip fed into the man’s arm to manage the pain.

It took firefighters fifteen minutes to take apart the machine and gently free him.

He was rushed to hospital and into surgery.

(iWIDK By Allie Beauregard) – A teenage beauty lost her signature look – and barely escaped death.

After her long, famous locks got caught in the axle of a go-kart and tugged at her entire head, Shelbi Crouch, 19, of Indianapolis, lost 80% of her scalp, suffered intense trauma to her brain, and is deaf in her left ear.

According to those who accompanied her on what was supposed to be a fun outing at Whiteland Raceway, Shelbi took all the regular precautions such as wearing a helmet and neck-brace - but her hair was still sticking out, even flowing.

Shelbi has since undergone three intensive surgeries and several skin grafts, but the girl who was voted “best hair” in high school will likely never be able grow hair follicles again.

Shelbi’s friends and family, especially her Baskin-Robbins co-workers, have been nothing but supportive and concerned during her rehabilitation.

“She’s like family to us, we just wanted to support her and let her know, no matter what, we’re always standing here behind you,” Baskin-Robbins employee Crystal Braswell told local NBC.

Over $2000 have been raised in Shelbi’s name to pay for her hospital bills, thanks to Braswell and friends donating their tips and holding benefit dinners.

As the incident was purely an accident, there will likely be no lawsuit between Shelbi and the race track, with the attorney for Whiteland insisting the staff is fully behind Shelbi’s recovery.

(iWIDK By Allie Beauregard) – A very lucky tourist brought home an unusual souvenir.

Lee Charie, 32, has returned home to England with part of his head in hand after spending the past year recovering on Thailand’s  Koh Tao Island where his vacation turned into a nightmare when he fell from his 22-foot hotel balcony – landing on his head and requiring surgeons to remove 1/4 of his skull.

Charie, who could barely remember the accident, told MSN reporters he was completely unaware his skull had been removed – to relieve pressure on his brain – until 2 weeks following the tumble.

Walking, talking, and functioning again, Charie is taking the piece of his skull that was taken out in hopes that doctors back in England can replicate a mold to replace it.

For now, a large – very noticeable - dip lays in his head where the chunk of bone is missing.

Although his memory suffered during his rehabilitation and his stay was greatly extended, Charie astonishingly escaped death and will hopefully one day return to his spot as an extra on the TV Series The Only Way is Essex.

(iWIDK By Rebecca Arden) – An unfortunate accident leaves multiple victims.

A small Piper Navajo plane leaving from Fort Lauderdale, Florida crashed into a parking lot after experiencing problems, killing all of the occupants. 

The plane encountered engine trouble shortly after take off and attempted to turn around and re-land in Fort Lauderdale.

Sadly, the plane could not manage the emergency landing.

According to Fox News, when trying to turn around, the plane could not lift itself high enough and crashed into a fence and tree before hitting the repossessed auto lot.

The plane landed in the lot, which is surrounded by industrial warehouses and stores, igniting seven cars and a boat, along with charring some buildings.

Over forty firefighters and police personnel arrived at the scene, which was covered in such a cloud of smoke it was difficult to find the plane.

Three people were on board the plane when it landed and unfortunately, there were no survivors.

(iWIDK By Rebecca Arden) – This NFL player was lucky to walk away with only burns after this accident. 

New England Patriots free agent Donté Stallworth was injured with major burns after being involved in a hot air balloon accident. 

Stallworth, a 10-year NFL veteran, was one of three passengers in the hot air balloon when it crashed into power lines in South Florida.

According to USA Today, two passengers were transported to a local trauma center while the third person remains unharmed.

Stallworth’s agent stated that Stallworth is suffering from some burns but none of these injuries will affect his playing ability or his NFL career.

His agent also included that one of the passengers was Stallworth’s girlfriend, but he did not state whether she was injured or not.

(iWIDK By Brittany Hahn) – What seemed like the perfect July day to take a trip turned out to be a huge mistake…

Traveler Donna Cooper set out for a trip to a museum called Scotty’s Castle in Death Valley, California on clear day.  The trip ended up being unexpectedly extended when Cooper’s GPS got the vehicle lost… for three days.

Cooper traveled with her daughter and her visiting friend.  They arrived at Scott’s Castle successfully, but it was their return trip that got them in trouble.

Another attraction sign drew in the crew; an attraction called The Racetrack.

After traveling ten miles toward ‘The Racetrack,’ Cooper found that the attraction was no where in sight, so she went to her not-so-trusty GPS.

“I’ve recovered vehicles from the back country that look like they have been driven over a cheese grater,” National Park Service District Ranger Micah Alley, reports ABC News.

Cooper drove the car until it ran out of gas and had no cellphone service, and ended up deeper into Death Valley.

Miraculously three days later, Cooper claims she got in her car, said a prayer, and it started back up.

A California mortuary buried the wrong woman despite protests from relatives.

Evan Davidson, 73, was shocked when he looked in to the open casket and realized he didn’t recognize the corpse.

Davidson, who lived with his wife for 51 years, informed the Simpson Family Mortuary but was told that he was mistaken.

The mortuary proceeded with the burial despite Davidson’s continued protest.

Later, the mortuary admitted to burying the wrong person.

Workers initially told Davidson that bodies looked different once they were embalmed, but even Davidson recognized his late wife when asked to come in and identify the right body.

According to FOX News, Davidson has hired an attorney to petition an investigation.

(iWIDK By Remus Lee) - The town of Warren, Ohio, mourns after a car accident claims the lives of local teenagers.

Six teens were killed Sunday morning after the Honda Passport they were in flipped into a pond after jumping a guardrail.

Authorities say high speeds were instrumental in causing the crash but would not assume whether alcohol or other drugs played a part.

Two other teens who were in the car survived the crash and reported it to 911; they were treated for their injuries and released.

The site of the crash has been marked by teddy bears as a makeshift memorial, USA Today reports.

Bar-goer, Jian Tsui, was found trapped between two houses barely able to breathe after trying to take a shortcut back to his home from a pub in eastern China. 

He was not found until the morning after during early rush-hour, and emergency services had to smash a wall to free him.

According to Daily Mail, Tsui was wedged in so tightly, that he could only breathe enough to survive, not to call for help.

Once freed and probably really embarrassed, he was able to venture home without medical treatment.

A woman riding her scooter in Nagpur, India, wasn’t about to let a truck driver get away with a hit-and-run.

According to Nine MSN, surveillance footage captured the woman landing on her knees after being dragged for several yards and then proceeding to chase the truck on foot.

Talk about a high pain tolerance.

Drivers beware; don’t mess with a woman on her scooter.

A Colorado 4-year-old, Dylan Hayes is alive after falling out of a third-story apartment window. He amazingly landed on his feet.

Dylan’s mom, Jessica, was cleaning the house during the fall, ““I was terrified. I didn’t know what I was going to see when I got down to the ground floor.”

“I fall … really, really far,” Dylan told CBS News.

Jessica is now looking for a new apartment on the first floor.
