(iWIDK By Daniel Kiely) - Three strikes and the prosecution is out – and so may be the accused.

Terry Borgia, 63, of Detroit has been tried for first degree murder three times in the drowning death of her four-year-old grandson, and each time the case has been declared a mistrial. 

According to Daily Mail, jurors may believe Borgia is covering for her mentally disabled daughter, Tonina, who was in the house at the time of the drowning.

The most recent trial ended earlier this month with a hung jury, with the jury unanimously acquitting her of first degree murder, but unable to reach agreement on some lesser charges.

Yet another pre-trial date is scheduled for January 24, but it is unclear what, if any, charges Borgia will face.

(iWIDK By Daniel Kiely) - An explosive expose reveals store employees that are not exactly the “Apple” of management’s eye.

Tales of employee theft, product destruction, invasion of customers’ privacy, drug sales, and even the trade of stolen items for plastic surgery by employees have laid waste to the Apple Stores’ pristine image.

A report in Gizmodo details accounts of Apple employees smashing Apple products in store rooms as “field tests” on the devices, while other employees revealed it was a consistent practice for “Genius Bar” employees to review and share material found on customers’ hard drives.

Another employee recounted working with an employee whose father may have been a high ranking corporate officer at Apple, who sold drugs in the store and often showed up to work high, but was never fired.

But perhaps the best story told of female employees who traded heavily discounted Apple products for stomach staple procedures at a local plastic surgeon’s office.

Apple has had no comment as of yet.

Roy Strickland,38, of Pompano Beach, Florida is being held in prison on animal cruelty charges for stabbing a python nineteen times, killing the snake.

According to WTSP.com, Strickland believed the python was “evil” and left the knife in the snake as it died. The snake belonged to a friend of Strickland.

During Strickland’s initial court appearance, Broward County Judge John Hurley stated that the snake died a slow death and Strickland’s “violence was gratuitous.”

Strickland is being held without bond.

(iWIDK By Daniel Kiely) - A South Florida family finally received justice for a brutal burning attack on their son.

Matthew Bent, 18, was sentenced to to 11 years in prison for his involvement in a vicious attack on Michael Brewer in which the victim suffered burns on 65% of his body.

According to SunSentinel.com, Brewer was doused with rubbing alcohol and then set ablaze by Bent and two other boys in 2009.

The other boys, Denver Jarvis and Jesus Mendez, were each previously sentenced to eight years in prison for their roles in the attack. Bent was considered the ringleader of the three.

Bent has already served three years in prison and will receive credit for time served. The victim survived and has relocated to another county.

A woman in California was shocked to discover that bone fragments were growing in one of her eyelids after she received a stem call face lift at a Beverly Hills clinic.

According to Daily Mail, the woman paid $20,000 for the procedure,  but three months later was still in pain and noticed a clicking sound in her right eye.

The woman sought out another cosmetic surgeon, who discovered fragments of bone growing in her eyelid and was able to remove them with another six hour surgical procedure.

It’s believed that the stem cells may have interacted with the calcium hydroxyapatite in some dermal filler the original surgeon used, resulting in the formation of the bone fragments.

Autumn Dunn, 30,  of Indianapolis, will serve thirty years in prison after admitting that she dropped 2-year-old stepson on his head twice because he wouldn’t stop crying.

RTV-6 reports that the boy, Slyler Dunn, was dropped on a concrete floor twice and died two days later in the hospital.

Dunn, who agreed to plead to guilty to felony neglect, rather than face murder charges, also admitted lying to authorities initially about the boys injuries.

The boy’s mother expressed disappointment with the sentence, citing Dunn’s apparent lack of remorse.

Lawson Dickey, 13, provided gruesome detail on the witness stand Tuesday as his father, Lawrence Dickey, 46, stood trial for first degree murder in the death of his wife and Lawson’s step-mother, Beatrice Dickey.

According to The Tampa Bay Times, the couple had attended a rock concert by the group Journey earlier in the evening where Lawrence Dickey had become intoxicated.

The boy testified that after returning home from the concert, his father went to the garage and retrieved an aluminum baseball bat, went to the couple’s bedroom and struck her with the bat, then screeched away in his car.

On the witness stand, the elder Dickey claimed he had no memory of the murder and had blacked out after the concert. Closing arguments in the trial began yesterday.

An 8-year-old Clermont, Florida girl was caught on video stealing packages from neighbors’ doorsteps after neighbors set a trap for the little holiday bandit.

According to KTLA 5, residents in the girl’s neighborhood became suspicious when several packages went missing and placed a decoy package outside a residence with a video camera rolling.

When police confronted the girl at her home with her mother, she initially denied taking the packages, but soon admitted taking at least one on a dare from a  friend.

Police plan to refer the girl to juvenile authorities, and place her name on the “naughty” list.

Christopher Garret Johnson, 33, was arrested at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Strasburg, Va., after walking into the school with a two-by-four board labeled “High Powered Rifle”.

According to NBC 10, Johnson was trying to draw attention to the lack of security at the school as well as schools around the country.

Johnson apparently chose the Virginia school because it has the same name as the elementary school in Newton, Connecticut where the shooting tragedy that shook the nation occurred last Friday.

Johnson was detained and charged with disorderly conduct.

(iWIDK by Daniel Kiely) – There’s a girl on the run in Pennsylvania, and she may be hitchhiking with her mother’s thumb.

Kirstie L. Foley, 21, of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, allegedly bit her mother on both legs and her thumb as she bathed after an argument.

According to Philly.com, part of the woman’s mother’s thumb is missing, and she remains in serious condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

It’s unclear why the women were arguing and police have been unable to find Foley to question her.

Police report that the woman’s thumb was not found, and is suspected to have been ingested by Kirstie.

(iWIDK by Daniel Kiely) - This family’s dog is a Brick House.

The Horne family of Modesto, California may have their dog Brick to thank for saving their lives after the dog woke them during the night as their house went up in flames.

Daily Mail reports that Brick began to whine and jump on beds when the fire started, waking Jessica Horne, her father and six-year-old son, all of whom escaped the blaze without harm.

The family did have one loss – another dog, Buddy, who did not escape.

The Horne’s home is equipped with fire alarms, but they had been disconnected while the house was being redecorated.

(iWIDK by Daniel Kiely) – As the nation mourned the tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, an Indiana man made terrifying threats of violence toward an elementary school where his wife works.

Police arrested Von Meyer, 60, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, after he threatened to kill his wife at the school where she worked and “kill as many people as he could before police could stop him.”

According to Huffington Post, Meyer first threatened to set his wife on fire before threatening to attack her at the school, where she works in the school cafeteria.

Meyer’s wife reported his threats to police, who discovered 47 guns and ammunition throughout the couple’s home and arrested Meyer on Saturday.

Meyer is being held without bond until a preliminary hearing. Security remains high at the school.

(iWIDK by Daniel Kiely) - A couple of swimmers in South Florida give new meaning to “Moby Dick.”

Officials from the  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are investigating claims that at least one swimmer attempted to ride a dying sperm whale that had come close to shore in Pompano Beach, Florida.

NBC South Florida reports that Margie Casey, 49, notified authorities after watching from her fifth floor condominium as the individuals attempted to mount and ride the whale.

Experts believe the whale, which died shortly after authorities located it, may have been injured by a boat or simply became ill. It’s unclear if the swimmers’ actions played a role in the whale’s death.

Harassing a whale is a federal offense and authorities are seeking the swimmers for questioning.
