Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) let a man use his Twitter account to propose to the politician’s press secretary.

Brett Wannamaker, a fourth-year medical student at John Hopkins University, thought of an interesting way to propose to his girlfriend.

Wannamaker asked Senator Mark Warner if he could use his Twitter account to propose to his girlfriend Beth Adelson, Senator Warner’s press secretary.

According to NY Daily News, the senator obliged and Adelson said yes.

Congratulations!

Married couple Red and Jonny Evans share a mutual obsession with Star Wars that has led to an out-of-this-world romantic adventure by capturing pictures of themselves in costume in various circumstances.

According to Daily Mail, since tying the knot, they have continually updated their collection of photographs with a sci-fi twist, snapping everywhere from a beach vacation to doctor’s office and modern art gallery.

“We loved the idea of two stormtroopers falling in love after the fall of the Empire and settling to a small country town in Ontario, Canada,” said Jonny, who lives in Caledonia, Ontario, with his wife and photographic partner. “To live simple lives and take lots of silly photos of each other, like every other couple in love living happily ever after.

Jonny and Red are both artists, so naturally a set of pictures that began as an inside joke between the two grew into hundreds of photos over the years, shared and admired publicly on their Flickr page.

An upstate New York man, Norman Hendrickson, 94, died in the limousine on the way to his late wife’s wake last Saturday.

Hendrickson’s body was laid in a casket next to his wife, Gwen, with the sign: ”Surprise – it’s a Double-Header – Norman and Gwen Hendrickson - February 16, 2013″ placed by the deceased couple’s daughter, Merrilyne.

According to Yahoo! News, mourners were shocked when they arrived at Gwen’s viewing, but took the situation light-heartedly.

According to funeral director and friend, Elizabeth Nichols-Ross, the late couple laughed a lot and would’ve enjoyed the irony of the situation.

Daughter, Norma, believes the incident was a “twist of fate that couldn’t have been more fitting.”

Two college sweethearts were pleasantly surprised to find their $250 bill paid for by an elderly couple, whose only request was that the young lovers “pay it forward.”

According to Click Orlando, the two students were dining at the esteemed restaurant Eleven in Pittsburgh, PA.

The note also told the young couple: “enjoy your youth, enjoy friendship, enjoy love. Be good to each other and good luck.”

And of course, the youthful lovers plan on paying for another couple’s meal next Valentine’s Day. Let’s hope they’re still together next year!

A heart transplant sparked a young romance between the recipient and the donor’s sister.

According to ABC News, the donor, Kellen Roberts, was a free-spirited adventurist who hit his head while on a trip to Sioux Falls in South Dakota.

The recipient, Connor Rabinowitz, wanted to meet the family of the man who gave him the heart, and when he saw Roberts’ sister, they fell in love instantly.

“I have it vividly in my head… just looking over, feeling her mom hug me, and just staring into her eyes,” Connor said.

It’s safe to assume that Connor got more than a heart transplant.

A soldier’s wife, Katy Gibbs, had her second baby while her husband was stationed in Afghanistan. However, husband Paul Gibbs got to watch the entire thing via Skype.

“I love the makers of Skype,” Katy said. “It’s been really good to have Skype because he was there for the ultrasound and he got to see different things like that.”

According to KSL, Katy found out she was pregnant soon after he’d been deployed. She already had a 3-year-old at home and carried this baby alone for the nine months.

Skype made it feel like Daddy had never left in the first place.

A Kansas City man received a life-saving gift after battling with chronic kidney problems since birth.

Travis Spire-Sweet, 30, was not expected to live past his first birthday due to being born with 25 percent of a functioning kidney.

After waiting on an organ donor list for a year, it was discovered that his girlfriend, 32-year old Taesha Benson was a perfect match.

National Donor Day, established in 1998, is also celebrated on February 14th.

According to Hawaii News Now, approximately eighteen people die every day while waiting for organ transplants due to shortages.

Officials at the University of Kansas Hospital confirm that the pair are now resting at home following a successful surgery.

Toledo defense lineman and star player, Ben Pike, is ending his growing career because his fiancée, Ashlee Barrett, is battling leukemia.

Pike ranked second in the team in sacks, and he would’ve had another year of eligibility with which he could build upon.

According to SB Nation, Barrett found out she had cancer in April 2012, and ever since Pike has been committed to being by her side.

Pike plans to marry her in June.

(iWIDK By Carl Mueller) – Despite not being married, this young mans’ commitment to his girlfriend is most certainly through sickness and health.

Iowa State student, Riley Nicolay, shaved his head to support his girlfriend of three years, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for a rare form of stomach cancer.

According to ABC News, both Nicolay and his girlfriend, Deidre Sechi, were attending Iowa State together when Sechi was forced to leave as her cancer treatment progressed.

Looking for ways to comfort his ailing counterpart, Nicolay shaved off his previously well-maintained locks and posed for a picture that has now gone viral.

Sechi will continue her chemotherapy in her hometown of Overland Park, Kansas, but may have to  proceed to have surgery in Texas to have the tumor removed.

In Greensburg, Indiana, a contractor at the home of Rita Hellmich found a wedding band that had been lost for forty years belonging to Joyce and Paul Werner, the couple who originally built the home in 1971.

According to Fox 8 Cleveland, the band had initials and a wedding date of 1968, which prompted Hellmich to seek the owners of the ring.

“We thought it was a joke at first, someone playing a prank,” Paul Werner said.

Regardless, the couple drove to Greensburg from Cincinnati and retrieved the long, lost band.

The ring was reunited with the Werners on the same week that they will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary.

(iWIDK By Lauren Keough) – A women survived an avalanche with help from her boyfriend.

Elisabeth Malloy, 43, triggered a massive avalanche two-feet deep and more than two football fields wide and lived to tell her story to the world.

According to Huffington Post,  Malloy meditated, breathed slowly and told herself that it wasn’t her time to die during the few minutes before she lost consciousness while buried about 18 inches into the snow.

Malloy suffered frost bite in her toes and fingers, but lived to tell her harrowing story thanks to her boyfriend, avalanche rescue beacons, a skier that wandered by and avalanche rescue teams.

Her lover rushed to the scene, and performed CPR on his girlfriend, while also providing ‘sweet kisses’ in efforts to revive Malloy.

Even though she’s at risk for future frostbite, she vowed to return to the snowy mountains.

The greatest all-male R&B group of the early-to-mid-1990′s have reunited, and are taking the stage for a Vegas residency.

Huffington Post made everyone’s day by informing us that the Boyz (now Men) “will perform weekend shows at the Terry Fator Theatre at The Mirage starting March 1.”

They will be performing all of their greatest hits, including (but not limited to) On Bended Knee and I’ll Make Love To You.

Some of the earliest memories I have are of ice-skating to I’ll Make Love To You in like, 1994–because that is a completely appropriate song for a pre-schooler to be rocking out to.

The tickets start at $40, which probably makes it the most affordable show in Las Vegas.

NeNe Leakes has announced that she is engaged to her ex-husband, Gregg Leakes.

According to USA Today, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” actress broke the big news while appearing on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” on January 3rd.

Before appearing on the show, Leakes Tweeted “romantic” photos on New Year’s Eve including a hallway lined with rose petals and a silver heart laid out on a bed. Jimmy proceeded to ask the actress about the snapshots.

Leakes told Jimmy: “Well, a little after midnight, I was asked this beautiful question… ‘Will you marry me — again?’

The couple, who met in 1996, divorced in 2011 after 13 years of marriage and have a 13-year-old son together.
