In 2010, Jeff and Jennifer Counseller of Connersville, IN took in a baby white-tailed deer they found on their front porch, covered in deep  wounds filled with maggots and on the verge of death.   This month they were criminally charged for keeping the animal in their custody even though they claim they were just nursing it back to health.
