Wheelchair-Stricken Girl, 8, Is Still Trapped Inside Apartment FOUR MONTHS After Hurricane Sandy Hit

(iWIDK by Aaron Lanton) – The effects of Hurricane Sandy continue to be felt by many.

In Coney Island, New York, wheelchair-bound 8-year-old Schania Burgess  has been stuck inside her apartment building since Hurricane Sandy because the elevators have not been repaired by the building’s management. 

According to CBS New York, Burgess has not been able to attend school, which has forced her mother to hire an instructor.

Burgess’ apartment is also a duplex with the bedrooms downstairs, forcing her to sleep on a cot next to the kitchen since the elevators are unavailable.

CBS’s attempts to reach management were unsuccessful, and they were forced to leave the premises by a security guard.
