(iWIDK By Alex Dorian) – Blatantly insensitive? Or a poor choice of words?
Emily Goldman, of Milwaukee, WI, was appalled after a Whole Foods employee alluded to the options of putting her autistic brother, Michael, on a leash after he ate food from the hot food bar.
According to Fox 6 Now, Goldman started a petition online, which asked that Whole Foods employees be properly trained on how to handle such a sensitive situation.
A spokeswoman from the largely organic food market stated that the employee was actually a contracted security guard, and that his exact words were “you don’t have to put him on leash, just keep an eye on him.”
Nevertheless, Whole Foods extended their full apologies towards Goldman and her brother, and claimed that all employees were to go through a mandatory training program to better equip them for such a situation.
