A macabre new gambling trend is becoming popular in Taiwan where bets are being placed on the life expectancy of sick patients.

According to Mirrior News, senior citizens’ clubs have set up more than 10 gaming houses in Taizhong City as the bizarre trend has taken off.

The range of gamblers go from cancer patients themselves to family members and even the doctors.

The bookies then visit hospitals to seek permission from the patients’ family and they take the punters to the hospital on their next visit to observe the patients.

Reports said police were investigating the gaming houses.
