Inventor Dean Kamen and investor Aspire Bariatrics out of Philadelphia recently designed an alternative to gastric bypass options; a device installed in one’s abdomen that literally sucks food and drink out of the user’s stomach.
According to The Independent, the creators hope for their device to aid the morbidly obese in losing detrimental fat around their body.
Unfortunately for them, the device has a potentially patent-stopping drawback; one test subject had to give up steak, chips, and Chinese food due to the device’s inability to break down large quantities of food.
In other words, if the users are unable to continue ingesting copious amounts of junk food, this device probably won’t get anywhere.
