15-Year-Old Girl Barricaded Herself In Bedroom For TWO DAYS After Forced To Marry 90-YEAR-OLD MAN

A 15-year-old girl from Saudi Arabia barricaded herself in her bedroom after she refused to marry a 90-year-old man who allegedly paid her parents a dowry of $17,500 for an arranged marriage.

According to the Saudi Gazette, the prospective husband, believing that he had been duped by the parents into paying such a large sum of money, threatened to file a lawsuit if their daughter failed to comply with his demands.

Suhaila Zain Al-Abideen, a member of the National Society for Human Rights, stated that the age gap between the man and the girl is far too broad, and that an Islamic marriage should be consensual.

The NSHR and other human rights’ organizations called for the Saudi government to set a minimum age of 18 for marriage.
