(iWIDK by Aaron Lanton) - Three U.S. travelers lived through every adventurer’s worst nightmare.

Jennifer Wolfrom Joseph Wolfrom Meghan Doherty kidnapped beaten with rocks by peruvian villagers

Near Cuzco, Peru, Jennifer Wolfrom, Joseph Wolfrom, and sister-in-law Meghan Doherty were trapped, beaten, and robbed by local villagers while hiking beyond the Asungate Mountains.

According to JHNews and Guide, Joseph Wolfrom and Doherty had been traveling through South and Central America for nine months, and were joined by Jennifer Wolfrom as a part of a ten-day vacation.

After hiking past the Asungate Mountains, they parked their truck near a bridge in the village of Palca.

Two men approached the group and told them it would be safe to camp there, but later signaled other members of the village, who proceeded to kidnap, beat, and rob the unsuspecting travelers.

Before releasing them to the Policia National officers, they were forced to sign a waiver that stated that the injuries were the result of a drunken car crash.

Thanks to an online fund set up at CrowdTilt.com, the group is going to have enough money to return home safely.
