(iWIDK by Aaron Lanton) - A routine fishing trip ended with a devastating tragedy. 

Juan Escamillo-Rojas father son washed away while fishing

In Sausalito, California, 37-year-old Juan Escamillo-Monroy and his 9-year-old son Juan Carlos Escamillo-Monroy drowned after being swept into the sea by harsh waves while fishing near the Golden Gate Bridge. 

According to CBS San Francisco, the father and son were accompanied by another fisherman who survived the accident.

After making it back to shore, the survivor immediately flagged down bystanders for emergency assistance.

The bodies of the father and son were found about 100 yards offshore by a Tiburon Fire Department boat.
