Wait, What?! – Fifty Shades Of Grey Gets Parody MUSICAL – Hottest Ticket In NYC

After packing houses all month at Chicago’s Apollo Theatre, “Fifty Shades! The Musical”, the comedic rendition of E.L. James’ popular softcore S&M novel Fifty Shades of Grey, is almost completely sold out for its NYC tour coming this January.

Baby Wants Candy, the producers of the show, used no form of advertisement for the musical parody and solely relied on the novel’s fame, with over 3.2 million copies sold to date.

While reviews so far are calling the show “amusing” and “daring”, die-hard fans of the book should be warned up front that there are few similarities between the two plots, says the IB Times.

The opening scenes take place at a middle-aged women’s book club where the mom’s are discussing Shades, and quickly find themselves caught up in reenactments of the plot, led by a beer-bellied Christian Grey.

The hilarity can still be caught, for a rising price and limited time, January 11-12 at NYC’s Gramercy Theater.
