(iWIDK By Alex Dorian) – Unorthodox, to say the least.

dr. Tom Johnson gave patient alcohol to induce heart attack to save man's life

Ronald Aldom, a 77-year-old from Bristol, UK, was given an alcohol-induced heart attack by two cardiologists in order to save his life.

According to Standard Media, Aldom was suffering from ventricular tachychardia, a condition characterized by an irregular heartbeat that can prove fatal.

The doctors isolated the area of the heart that was inducing Aldom’s irregularity using a catheter and then injected concentrated ethanol into the man’s bloodstream to kill off that particular portion of the heart.

Aldom is just one out of a handful of people to receive such a treatment in the UK.
