(iWIDK by Aaron Lanton) - A Chicago TV station made a huge gaffe on live television.
In Chicago, Illinois, local television station WGN gave a live report of a single engine aircraft crash on Martin Luther King Drive that was actually a staged accident for the filming of the NBC Series, “Chicago Fire.”
According to USA Today, three minutes into the live report, on-air anchors finally received word about the staged incident.
The frustrated reporters have been criticized for not thoroughly checking facts, and handling their mistake in a unprofessional manner.
The spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department, Larry Langford, told local reporters that the information about the TV shoot was issued, but added, “i’t looks like it didn’t get filtered down to everybody.’”
