(iWIDK by Daniel Kiely) – A Washington man is receiving death threats after catching an Octopus for dinner.

Dylan Mayer diver caught octopus killed and ate for dinner

Dylan Mayer, 19,  caught and killed an 80 pound Octopus while diving at Cove 2 in West Seattle, infuriating citizens who visit the cove to observe the cephalopods in their natural habitat.

According to The Seattle Times, a diving instructor took issue with Mayer’s catch and posted pictures online of the octopus in the back of Mayer’s truck, prompting angry posts, including death threats, and phone calls to Mayer’s home.

Mayer had a permit to hunt shellfish and did nothing illegal, yet critics claim the octopus should be off limits to hunters.

Why shouldn’t an octopus be eaten?? People are ridiculous.
