(iWIDK By Nina Hoffman) – A Chinese artist has tackled the topic of sexting via sculpture, outraging Kansas family groups.

Church leaders have reacted with anger after a sculpture of a half-naked woman taking camera phone pictures of herself was placed in a Kansas public park.

The piece, entitled ‘Accept and Reject’ has drawn ire from the American Family Association (AFA) of Kansas and Missouri who have complained about the potential impact it may have on children.

On Tuesday the mayor rejected a petition from the director of the AFA, a Baptist minster and a local resident who originally complained about the statue to have it removed.

The group is now aiming to collect the 4,000 physical signatures needed to convene a grand jury who can decided whether the statue represents promoting obscenity to children.

The piece, according to an accompanying leaflet reviewed by Kansas City sources, “offers a cautionary warning.  The statue depicts a woman who fails to concentrate on her whole self, and only presents pieces for the world to see”.

I don’t know……Looks LIKE SEXTING TO ME But with an old school camera. AND OF COURSE there is MEANING behind the sexting statue…..ALL ART has meaning……..BUT I still wouldn’t want my young children to see it AT A PARK where you WOULD NOT expect to see it. Try explaining to a child that “The statue depicts a woman who fails to concentrate on her whole self, and only presents pieces for the world to see”.
I am an Artist also…..but come on ….little bit nipply and nude to be placed in a public park. Put it on display at an art exibit somewhere and let PEOPLE who want to look at it come and get an eye full. These people at the park have rights also–but they weren’t given a choice and didn’t expect to come across this (I’m sure) while out getting some fresh air with the kiddies.
…..I wonder if it was a half naked man statue with his big old thang hanging out if the CITY MAYOR would have allowed it in the park or rejected the petition.

its not even a camera phone its a camera. what happend to artistic freedome? and it looks like its in the middle of the woods. not many kids go into the woods theses days…whys the church so upset anyway…

if you read your source link, you would know this has nothing to do with sexting
