(iWIDK by Kevin Erdman) - 16-year-old Sage St. Clair of Livermore, California, was on the first day of a 10-day family vacation in Maui Hawaii when she was bitten by a reef shark while standing in about 2-3 feet of water at Kahana Beach.

According to NBC News, the incident took place near the Hololani Resort at 9:52 am.
The injury required multiple stitches in the calf and will likely leave long-lasting scars.
Sage St. Clair though, has not become afraid of the water as she went back into the ocean on the last day wearing a protective boot.
