Rescue of man from Slovakia after he fell into a crevasse

While searching for a stranded climber wedged in an Austrian mountain crevasse, the pilot of a rescue helicopter ran into rough winds and released his team who were in the process of going in, dropping them 32 feet onto rocks below, killing policeman Franz Franzeskon, 52.

According to KSEE24 News, the pilot could face manslaughter charges if the results of an inquiry into the incident prove he is at fault.

Franzeskon died upon impact with the rocks while his two teammates received serious injuries.

The search for the climber was called off when the incident occurred and his body was recovered some days later.

All because they were sent to rescue some idiot from his own stupidity. Sad story indeed.
